  • Who are Recreate Scotland?

    We are a community supportive resource reuse initiative created to remove the financial burden of having to purchase new resources whilst eliminating the negative environmental impact witnessed through the liner purchasing model. Long story short? We give resources away for free and help the planet in doing so.

  • Where are you based?

    We are headquartered in Edinburgh.

  • How do you plan to recreate Scotland?

    We plan to recreate communities, opportunities, family lives, purchasing processes and the environmental health of the country.

  • What is your purpose?

    Our main purpose is to create opportunities for resources in Scotland to be put to use beyond their first life cycle. We aim to offer the people of Scotland the opportunity to gain access to these resources. We are creating a zero cost platform in order to remove any barriers that people/families/organisations may have when trying to access goods.

  • Why is your service necessary?

    We are a wasteful nation. Too many good resources go to waste each year. There is also a need to level the playing field for those who may not be able to afford luxuries. Families shouldn't have to decide between crucial home wares or clothing for their children.

  • Are you a charity?

    No.

  • Who can use this service?

    This is a non-discriminating service. Anyone can sign up. Just make sure you sign up for the appropriate membership!

  • How do I sign up?

    Visit the home page and choose your membership option. Click sign up and follow the instructions.

  • Which plan do I go for?

    If you are signing up for use for you and or your family then choose the solo membership. charities and non-profits choose the non-profit membership, businesses and large organisations must choose either the SME membership or the large org membership depending on how many employees they have.

  • Can I change plans after I have signed up?

    There would normally be no reason for you to need to change plans unless of course you signed up to the wrong plan by mistake. In which case yes you can change plans. Your sign up fee may not be refunded in these circumstances.

  • How long does my membership last?

    1 year from the day you sign up.

  • Can I cancel my membership?

    If you wish. Although your membership last for the year and membership fees are non-refundable so you may as well make use of it.

  • Can I get a refund?

    Generally no. In special circumstances a refund may be considered.

  • How do I pay?

    We use PayPal to collect payments. All major credit and debit cards are accepted through PayPal. large organisations with tailored pricing structures may differ.

  • Online payments only?

    Indeed it is!

  • Can I pay for someone else?

    Yes. When signing up, simply use their address as your registered delivery address.

  • And all resources are free?

    All resources are free. Once you have signed up to become a member, the resource catalogue is yours to access completely free.

  • What's the catch?

    There is no catch. Because we are so used to the concept of buying and selling goods, it does seem too good to be true. That isn't the case.

  • Where does the product come from?

    The product comes to us from many different avenues. End of line stocks, donated goods both domestic and commercial, unwanted assets etc.

  • Can I order as much as I want?

    This depends on the level of membership you have. We encourage a 'take what you need' ethos rather than a 'take what you want.'

  • Why is there a limit?

    Our resources are there to support as many people as possible. They are not there for people to be greedy with or to misuse.

  • I only need to borrow the resources, is that an option?

    Of course. In fact we actively encourage members to return the item once they have finished using it so that someone else can continue the life cycle of that product.

  • I no longer need the goods. What happens now?

    On claiming the resources, leave an instruction to re-collect in the relevant box during checkout. We will handle the rest. Alternatively, get in touch with us upon realisation you no longer need the product and we shall arrange re-collection from you.

  • Can I cancel my order?

    Of course.

  • Do you deliver?

    We do indeed. Our in house delivery team can deliver your goods to you.

  • Is delivery included in my membership cost?

    Again this depends on various factors. The level of membership you have signed up to. Your location and the amount of goods being delivered. Delivery is not included in the solo membership cost.

  • Will you take my old goods away?

    If you have resources that you deem suitable for reuse then please do offer them to us. These resources will go back through our system and will be made available for another member. This is at the discretion of Recreate Scotland.

  • How often do you host reuse events?

    Reuse events are held frequently. We do not have a timetable for these events so its best to keep an eye on our events tab and our social media pages.

  • Who can attended these events?

    Any of our members are more than welcome to attend these events. In fact, the events are open to anyone regardless of whether or not you are a member. Invite your friends.

  • What are the purpose of the reuse events?

    The purpose of these events is to provide comunities with the opportunity to access good quality resources without having to go through the referral system, take out crisis loans or spend money they may not have.
